At Ackerson Eyecare, we use advanced Zeiss ultra-widefield retinal imaging technology to capture highly detailed images of the retina quickly and comfortably.
Using a fast “flash” imaging system, this technology creates a wide, high-resolution view of the inside of the eye in just seconds. Unlike traditional retinal photography, which only captures a smaller portion of the retina at a time, ultra-widefield imaging allows us to examine a much larger area of the retina in a single image.
For many patients, this also means we can often evaluate the retina without requiring dilation drops, creating a faster and more comfortable experience during the exam.
This technology helps us detect and monitor conditions such as:
- Retinal tears and detachments
- Diabetic eye disease
- Macular degeneration
- Glaucoma-related changes
- Retinal hemorrhages and vascular disease
- Peripheral retinal abnormalities
The high-resolution images are stored over time, allowing us to compare scans from previous visits and monitor even subtle changes in your eye health year after year.
