Not Everyone Has Standard Eyes
Standard, mass-produced contact lenses work well for many people, but they are not the right answer for everyone. If you have previously been told that you cant wear contacts, dont give up. Hard-to-fit is often just another way of saying that your eyes have unique needs that require a more specialized approach.
Common Challenges We Solve
At Ackerson EyeCare, we frequently successfully fit patients who have struggled with:
- Dry Eye: The dry Utah climate can make standard lenses feel like sandpaper. We utilize advanced materials designed to retain hydration and breathe better.
- Astigmatism: If your eye surface has a unique curvature, standard lenses may rotate or blur. Our toric lenses are engineered for maximum stability.
- Presbyopia: If you need reading glasses, we can fit you with multifocal lenses that offer distance, intermediate, and near vision in the same lens.
- Irregular Corneas: Conditions like keratoconus or scarring from previous surgery require specialty rigid gas permeable (RGP) or scleral lenses that vault over the corneal irregularity to provide clear vision.
Our Flexible Fitting Philosophy
We believe that a lens should be proven in your eyes, not just on paper. Our independent fitting process gives us access to every major manufacturer (Acuvue, Alcon, Bausch + Lomb, CooperVision, and more). If one design fails to provide the comfort or clarity you need, we have the flexibility to switch brands, materials, or curvatures until we achieve the perfect fit.
Try Before You Buy
You will always test your lenses in a real-world clinical setting before you commit to a full supply. We want to ensure you are confident in your vision and comfort before you take them home. If you have struggled with contacts in the past, schedule a specialty lens consultation—you might be surprised by how far lens technology has come.
